Much like all our fellow geeks out there, here at Pop Fodder we were pant wettingly excited to hear that the next Spider-Man movie was going to be a complete reboot of the franchise, away from the awfulness that was 'Spider-Man 3' and taking the story back to source and going old school making the story more true to the old comic books we knew and loved. The cast has been completely overhauled, even the main man himself has been replaced.

Here is a look at the cast:

A new skinny Peter Parker, without the Hollywood good looks of McGuire... Much better and more believable as our friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man.

The gorgeous Ms. Stone with newly blonde hair looks like the perfect fit to play our heroes missis, back to the old school, MJ was NOT his original girlfriend!

A bizarre choice to play Dr. Connors/Lizard, maybe he will be a homeless College lecturer? 

Dad of serial WINNER Charlie Sheen, Martin will be hoping that this new direction for him will put him back in the headlines for the right reasons, he looks the perfect match!

 Now we are going to geek out a bit more... by looking at the changes from the last franchise and what the potential story could be. First of all, its clear to see the HUGE changes they have made to the suit. Webslingers being our main point of interest, the last set of Spidy movies had Parker with genetically in built web slinging ability, but in this new movie, we go back to the comics as we see that Parker now has to build web slingers himself, an example of how brilliant he was at science (something else they rarely touched upon in 1-3). Also we see it looks like his suit has harder soles, looking almost boot like footwear instead of the all in one suit.

We have a theory here at PopFodder, take a look at the pictures below and the comparisons between the new design Spidy suit and the original in the comic, but not the original you may be thinking of, the Ben Reilly (Clone of Spider-Man) suit, which has very similar spider logo, hand and leg detailing... could this possibly be the hint towards the beginning of a clone storyline and eventually to the birth of Carnage?     

One thing is for sure, the new franchise is being taken far more seriously than any of the previous 3 movies. The writers and producers are taking everyone's favourite webslinger in a new direction and we can't wait to see where that direction leads.
